The Back Forty: Kiefer Sutherland

You never know who’ll walk into our studios – welcome to The Back Forty. This is where we highlight artists who walk the line outside of today’s country chart with their music, as well as the folks who have made an impact on country music – yesterday and today.

A full-length album was not the plan when Kiefer Sutherland stepped into the studio with friend and producer Jude Cole. The actor just wanted to lay down some demos of a few of the songs he had written in hopes that an artist would take hold and record them. Nevertheless, after hearing the personal nature of the songs, Jude encouraged his friend to dig deeper and pursue more. That push was just what Kiefer needed to dive in and record his debut album Down In A Hole.

Once committed, Kiefer attacked music and touring with the focus and dedication that he’s been known for throughout his career. Whether it’s inhabiting the role of Jack Bauer in 24 or roping on the rodeo circuit, Kiefer goes all in.

On the eve of his debut performance on the Grand Ole Opry stage, Kiefer took the time to stop by and hang out with Kix. Check out this insightful visit from May 2016:
