The Song Remembers When: “Consider Me Gone” – Reba McEntire

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

This weekend, we spotlight “Consider Me Gone” by my buddy Reba!

Now, songwriters Steve Diamond and Marv Green are frequent co-writers, and they wanted to write a song that dealt with men’s inattentiveness towards their wives. For Diamond, he felt that he was guilty of this, and he threw out the line: “Every time I turn the conversation to something deeper than the weather…” And then, they said that the melody just sort of came from that verse.  In fact, most of the song came together in a day except they just couldn’t come up with a title.  So, the guys decided to take a break, and they came back the next day to finish it and they were glad they did because on the second day everything fell into place.

Well, they couldn’t have been happier that Reba heard the song and loved it! And, it became a number one song for her back in January of 2010.

So, this week, we remember “Consider Me Gone” by my buddy and Las Vegas signing partner Reba:
