The Song Remembers When: “Come Back Song” – Darius Rucker

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

This week, we take another look at Darius Rucker’s “Come Back Song”… we love this song so much that we wanted to feature it twice!

“Come Back Song” by Darius Rucker was the first release from his Charleston, SC 1966 album – that was in July 2010.

Now, Darius co-wrote the song with Casey Beathard and Chris Stapleton.  Darius was a few minutes late to the writing session. Well, Casey and Chris already had the title, and they kind of had melody, but they thought Darius would hate it. You know what? It turns out they were wrong. Darius actually loved it!

Darius says that the line he remembers writing was: “You’re on the feel good side of leaving.” Cool line, huh? He said that he thought it really captured the point of when you feel you’re over a breakup.  And, Darius said that after that the song wasn’t really all that difficult to write.

It hit the top of the charts in 2010 and became his 4th straight #1 song!

So, this week, we remember “Come Back Song” from Darius Rucker:
