The Song Remembers When: “Break on Me” – Keith Urban

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Keith Urban earned his 20th number one in March of 2016 with a song called “Break on Me.” It was a song written by Ross Copperman and Jon Nite. And, these two writers knew that it was a perfect fit for Keith the moment they finished writing it.

So, Jon had this melody, and he’d been playing for months and it eventually became the chorus. The two writers sat and talked for hours about life, family, friends and how easy it is to freak out about the stuff that life throws at you, and that’s when they came up with the lines: “Break on me, shatter like glass, come apart in my hands, take as long as it takes.” Once Keith heard it, he knew he had a song that came from truth and honesty, and he wanted to make sure he did the song justice because he related to it so strongly.

Well, I think you nailed it, Keith!

So this week, we remember “Break on Me” by Keith Urban:
