Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

Jessica Callahan and her son Easton sent us a message on Facebook nominating the Kenai River Brown Bears. They’re a Tier II Junior Hockey Team in the North American League located in Alaska.

Jessica says that the team does so much for their community, and they inspire the kids there to follow their dreams. They volunteer at the local Boys and Girls Club helping the kids with their homework and getting the kids active in sports. And, it’s because of them that Jessica’s son Easton loves hockey! The members of the team teach kids his age how to play the game.

Kix’s Response:

Man, I don’t think we’ve ever had someone nominate an entire team before, but, Jessica, thank you for writing in… I like it! I think a sport like hockey are a fun way to get kids engaged. And, I know sports players can be positive role models for their community.
