The Song Remembers When: “Baggage Claim” – Miranda Lambert

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In 2011, Miranda Lambert released the first song from her fourth album, Four The Record. She co-wrote the song “Baggage Claim” with Luke Laird and Natalie Hemby.

Miranda loved this thing because she said that it made people want to take revenge and dance – all at the same time. She also said that this song was the grooviest tune she had ever recorded. She credited her co-writer Luke Laird with this groove, saying that his guitar playing during the writing session really helped with the melody.

Charles Kelley’s brother, singer Josh Kelley, provided backing vocals and Steve Winwood of Traffic and Blind Faith fame played the B3 organ on this thing. The song peaked at number three the week of November 29th, 2011.

So, here’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – Miranda Lambert and “Baggage Claim:”
