Kix TV: Dierks Bentley (2018)

At this point in his career, Dierks Bentley is a proven hit-maker and entertainer. Looking at his last couple of albums, it seems that Dierks is challenging himself on a deeper level when it comes to his music. Take 2016’s Black, for instance. The album’s intent was an exploration of love.

For his upcoming project titled The Mountain, Dierks turned to Telluride, Colorado for inspiration. He described the project to Billboard as “a merger” between Black and his 2010 bluegrass-flavored album Up On The Ridge. Our first inkling of what to expect from The Mountain is the album’s first single “Woman, Amen,” a groove-induced message of gratitude.

In this visit with Kix, Dierks details the motivation behind his new music, as well as looks ahead to hitting the road with Brothers Osborne and LANCO on his 2018 Mountain High Tour. Plus, he and Kix discuss the bar business as Dierks opens his newest Whiskey Row location in Nashville. And, as for that never-ending “What is country?” debate? Dierks weighs in.
