Brett Eldredge had his fifth hit song in 2016 with “Drunk on Your Love.” He was writing for his first album, but he didn’t think it was right for that record. And, he was writing with his producer Ross Copperman – this guy’s really talented.
The day they wrote it, Brett was antsy. He was pacing back and forth and playing with Ross’ little Chihuahua. And, he put the dog on his head like a hat, and Ross says, “Man, are you drunk?” And, Brett says “No, but how ‘bout ‘drunk on your love?’”
Well, the next thing you know, the song turns out to be something pretty good and Brett holds onto it for his second album. But, then, Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line hears the demo and he wants to use it for his wedding day. Well, Tyler and his wife make a wedding video using the song which winds up going viral. Then, Brett sees the video and then he knew he had to release the song.
And that’s how “Drunk on Your Love” by Brett Eldredge became this week’s The Song Remembers When!
