Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

This week, our story has ties to Brantley Gilbert

While Brantley was in town rehearsing for his orchestra concert in Nashville, he got together with the James Shaw Jr. Now, that young man is credited for saving lives after tackling a gunman who walked in to a Nashville-area Waffle House shooting and killing several people. James Shaw Jr. said that he saw the opportunity to disarm the gunman when he went to reload his rifle.

Four people were killed that day, and Shaw has raised close to 200 thousand on a GoFundMe page for the victims of that tragedy. Brantley Gilbert has teamed up with Shaw and the two have created a t-shirt that says “I Believe in Heroism” with all the money going to the victims from the Waffle House shooting.

So, I’d like to recognize James Shaw, Jr as this week’s Kidde Hero for his quick thinking and heroism. And, if you’re interested in one of those shirts, visit IBelieveInNashville.com.
