The Song Remembers When: Tim McGraw’s “How I’ll Always Be”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Back in 2016, Tim McGraw released his third single off his Damn Country Music album. It is titled “How I’ll Always Be,” and it would become another Top 5 hit for Tim. The song was written by Chris Janson, Jamie Paulin, and Jeremy Stover.

Tim said that it was very reminiscent of his hometown where he worked in the cotton fields as a kid. Some of his earliest memories were the visuals of that song. And, he went on to say that he wouldn’t have been able to record that song back in his 30s because it’s all about knowing who you are, and now it’s unique to who Tim is at this moment.

Tim added that the song reminded him of the stories and songs he grew up on, also the kind of songs he built his career on.

This week’s The Song Remembers When is Tim McGraw and his 2016 hit “How I’ll Always Be.”
