Well, how many of you would fight off a wild animal?

Last week, an off-duty police officer made the news. Police officer Arcangelo Liberatore was visiting a park in Thornwood, New York, with his family.

He saw a coyote come out of the woods and make its way into the park, which was populated with people. The first thing he did was get his wife and kids to safety.

Then, he heard screaming and ran back to the park to find a coyote attacking a family. The coyote had a five-year-old little girl and her mother was screaming and punching the animal. Officer Liberatore jumped on the back of the coyote and held it to the ground until the police arrived to take care of the animal.

The little girl was treated at the hospital with stitches and medication. And, Officer Liberatore escaped with minor injuries. When called a hero, he said that he was just doing his job

So, this week’s Kidde Hero is Officer Liberatore of New York. It’s probably not the kind of police work he imagined doing, but it was a good thing he was in the right spot at the right time!
