The Song Remembers When: Zac Brown Band featuring Alan Jackson – “As She’s Walking Away”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In November of 2010, the Zac Brown Band scored their fifth number one hit, “As She’s Walking Away.” The song was co-written by Zac Brown and his frequent co-writer Wyatt Durrette.

Now, Wyatt and Zac went to a bar after the band wrapped up playing a show in Orlando. When Wyatt noticed a beautiful girl staring at him, he wanted to say something to her but couldn’t because she was with her boyfriend. Smart move, Wyatt. As he watched her leave, he thought, “I’m falling in love as she’s walking away.” Well, he told Zac about the idea and they decided to finish it up.

At the time, the band was being produced by Keith Stegall – that’s Alan Jackson’s producer. Keith suggested Alan for the part of the “older man giving the wise advice.”

It was the lead single from the Zac Brown Band’s second album, You Get What You Give. And, it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When.
