This week, Rhonda Bowers of Mead, Washington, nominates Katie Youngren. She writes:

Good morning, Kix.

I would like to nominate Katie Youngren for your Hero of the Week. Katie is the mother of a large family. She’s a school bus driver for the Freeman School District, and she is also very active in her church.

Last year, there was a school shooting, and, unfortunately, there was loss of life. Katie provided support to many of the kids that ride her bus to and from school. She has been a consistent source of comfort and even rented out a skating rink for her birthday where she invited all the kids and their families to enjoy of a day of fun. She is a hero in our community.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Rhonda Bowers

Kix’s Response:

Well, Katie sounds like a great person and a good friend to you and many of the kids at the Freeman School District.  One person can truly make a difference! Katie Youngren – you are this week’s Kidde Hero!
