I think we can all agree that kids are on their tablets or phones way too much, but here’s a story where having a tech-savvy kid saved a life.

In Winchester, Virginia, a little three-year-old girl named Molly was home with her dad, Trevor, and her one-year-old sister while her mom was at work. Her father collapsed and was on the floor not responding, so Molly grabbed the smartphone and FaceTimed her mom, Devon.

In fact, Molly had to FaceTimed her mom twice because, at first, Devon said that, she didn’t answer.  When Devon saw it was Molly on the camera crying and sobbing, she knew something was wrong. Molly turned the camera on her dad and kept saying, “Look at Daddy.”

Devon immediately called 911 and then a neighbor to make sure they got over to her house.

It turns out that her husband had a blood clot which had traveled to his brain, and doctors say that had it not been for Molly’s quick thinking, he wouldn’t have made it. Trevor remains in the hospital and is undergoing rehabilitation for the damage caused by the stroke, but the family remains optimistic that he will be okay.

Suzanne’s Response:

That’s a pretty amazing story.  After hearing this story, I bet everyone right now is teaching their little ones how to use FaceTime and where that emergency number is on the phone.

Little Molly is very deserving of being this week’s Kidde Hero!
