In 2016, Jake Owen had just received his sixth career Billboard Country Airplay number one with “American Country Love Song.” The song was written by Ashley Gorley, Ross Copperman, and Jaren Johnston.
And, Jake remembers being out in California when he heard this one and immediately knew it was a perfect fit for his new album. He called Jaren to tell him that he wanted it. Now, the song almost went to Jason Aldean, but it eventually landed back in the hands of Jake.
And Jake said that even though he was going through a divorce at the time, he was adamant about recording positive, upbeat songs and this one fit the bill.
He called this one a “career song,” and it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When… Jake Owen and “American Country Love Song.”
