Darius Rucker co-wrote his eighth career number one, “For The First Time,” with Derek George and Travis Hill. Darius was amazed that no one had written a song with that name. He even Google-ed it to make sure.
Now, Derek had come up with the idea of doing stuff for the first time. But, the production is what really convinced Darius that they were onto something special. A great backbeat was something that he felt wasn’t what the country audience was accustomed to. And, he especially loved the way the fiddle and guitar were doubled in the beginning of the song.
It made it to number one during the first week of June 2018, and it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When. Here’s Darius Rucker with “For The First Time.”
