The Song Remembers When: Jake Owen – “Down To The Honky Tonk”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Jake Owen released “Down To The Honky Tonk” last year. The song peaked inside the Top 10 back in April, and it was Jake’s fastest rising career single to date.

It was co-written by frequent collaborators Rodney Clawson, Luke Laird, and Shane McAnally. The song explains that even if you’re not rich and famous, there’s still plenty to love about life, and it doesn’t take a lot to have a good time.

Now, when Jake heard it, he knew it was going to be on his new album. Fans have so many choices when it comes to music, but he felt this song would stand out. Jake thought that it was an earworm and people would remember it.

The song was featured on the album Greetings From… Jake, which reunited him with producer Joey Moi, who produced his breakout hit 2011’s “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”

This week’s The Song Remembers When is Jake Owen and “Down To The Honky Tonk.”
