Kix TV: Midland (2019)

Midland arrived on the scene two years ago with their debut single “Drinkin’ Problem.” With beat-driven, pop and hip hop influenced music being so prevalent on mainstream country’s airwaves, a lot of fans had been thirsting for a more neotraditional sound. And, Midland definitely delivered with their debut album, On the Rocks. It featured three singles (“Drinkin’ Problem,” “Make a Little,” and “Burn Out“) all charting Top 15 or higher on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

With their latest album Let It Roll, the band hopes to build on their honky-tonk foundation. The first taste of Midland’s second chapter is “Mr. Lonely,” a toe-tapping ’90s throw-back to when line dancing was all the rage.

In this visit to Kix TV, Midland’s Mark Wystrach, Cameron Duddy, and Jess Carson share how the past few years have influenced the sound of their sophomore album. They also talk about their road family and being thankful they’re not solo artists. Plus, Kix and the guys discuss the importance of pacing when touring and how saying no can be your saving grace.
