In 2018, Dierks Bentley released his album The Mountain – that’s a project he wrote and recorded out in Telluride, Colorado, but Nashville is where he wrote the album’s lead single. “Woman, Amen” was co-written by Dierks and his frequent collaborators Ross Copperman and Josh Kear.
After the success Dierks and Josh had in writing “Drunk On A Plane,” Dierks knew he could trust Josh’s instincts when he brought him the idea of “Woman, Amen,” although he admitted that he didn’t really know what it meant. As they was writing it, the song became a tribute to Dierks’ wife Cassidy, a way to express his love and gratitude for her. Dierks wanted the production to be up-tempo so that it would be a feel-good song that was deeper than just a party tune.
In June of 2018, the song reached the top of the chart, and it made it there in just 21 weeks.
