Hero of the Week: Stacy Hardin

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Stacy Hardin, out of Peoria, Illinois, is not only a book store owner, she is the founding member of the Book Rack Literacy Foundation. Yeah – Stacy has combined her love of books with her love of helping her community.  She feels like if she can get kids reading at an early age, their chances of graduating high school improve dramatically.

Her store The Book Rack supplies books to 350 public school classrooms, as well as libraries around Peoria.  She’s now added a new program called Bedtime Stories. It is a program she hopes will inspire kids about the magic of reading!

For the local educators in the area, they say that they’re already seeing an increase in literacy. Check out more about Stacy’s efforts here.

Kix’s Response:

Get kids excited about something and they’re all in! Stacy, you are a great example of how one person can make a difference. And, it starts with the little ones; they are our future! So, Stacy Hardin, you are our ACC Hero of the Week!
