Recently, it was National Cat Day, so we thought we’d throw some attention to the feline world.

Truffles is an “eyeglass-wearing cat” in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Master Optician Danielle Crull realized that little kids would sometimes feel uncomfortable or anxious about the process of getting glasses for the first time.

She had rescued Truffles, the cat, and started to train her. Truffles could give high fives, shake, and give fist bumps. So, Danielle wondered if she would wear glasses or sport an eye patch. If so, maybe it would help kids find the courage to do the same.

Well, Truffles had no problem learning to wear glasses. She even paws at her eyeglass’ case when asked where she puts her glasses at night. You can’t make this stuff up!

Kids seem to be responding well to Truffles who is now a regular helper at the eyeglass store.

Kix’s Response:

Barbara and I have some cats – I mean, Barbara does and I let ‘em stay, but they do nothing like this. They’re cool and all, and they have their own personalities… Never mind I’m starting to sound like I like ‘em… Have you guys ever heard of cats doing stuff like this?

Anyway, I’m just kidding, don’t send me hate mail… I think it’s great! Animals always seem to make a stressful situation better, especially for kids. And, my dad actually had a potbellied pig named Truffles, but he never wore glasses.

Truffles – you are our ACC Hero of the Week!
