Carrie Casey wrote in requesting that we spotlight Sergeant Majorie Jordan with the New Jersey City Police Department for her bravery during the December shoot out at the Kosher Market in Jersey City.

The story made national headlines when gunfire was exchanged between police officers and two suspects. It was so bad that the area was on lock-down. And, when it was all over, six people had lost their lives, including a police officer.

Sergeant Jordan, a 20-year veteran of the department, was seen leaving her position, where she was safe, to run towards open gunfire help a fellow officer who had been wounded.  She was able to get that officer to safety and he has recovered.

Kix’s Response:

Well, thank you, Casey, for writing in to nominate Sergeant Jordan, and we agree – that act of bravery needs to be recognized.

By the way, we heard that Sergeant Jordan, just last month, called in a three-alarm fire and started evacuating homes affected by the blaze. So, we are happy to say that Sergeant Jordan is this week’s Kidde Hero!
