This week, we take a look at Joe Nichols’ “Gimmie That Girl:”
The Peach Pickers, which is made up of songwriters Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip, got together to write one day. Now, Ben and Rhett had an idea about telling a girl who’s all “done-up” and ready to go out, that you’d rather stay at home with her dressed down and makeup-free. Then, Dallas came up with a line “gimmie that girl.” The song came together pretty quickly after that…
The tune was released in the fall of 2009 on Joe Nichols’ Old Things New album, and eventually became his third #1.
