This week, we selected Matt’s Hero nomination to share with you. He writes:

Hello Mr. Brooks,

I’m a retired master sergeant Marine Corps infantry and have served in all kinds of combat zones, so I know true heroes, and these boys are more than deserving…

Sixteen year-old Chris Kuykendall might be a star football player, but when he was younger, he used to dread going to school because of bullies. So, when he heard about a five-year-old dealing with the same thing, Chris invited the boy to sit with him at lunch. And, soon after that, those bullies left him alone!

Chris’ action motivated his teammate Brevin Young to do the same, and now they’ve created a special organization full of volunteers with the same mission called Eagle Buddies. And, they want every kid to know that they have people that care about them.

These two young men have dedicated their time to giving confidence and protection to innocent children who are victims of bullying. That’s why they are heroes!

Thank you,

Matt M. Roberts

Kix’s Response:

That is a great story, Matt. You know, these are the stories that renew my faith in us. Sometimes I wonder what’s wrong with the world and then guys like Chris, Brevin and their group do something out of the kindness of their heart and I’m like “Everything’s gonna be alright.”

Do something nice for somebody today, and I’ll try and do the same – we got this!
