Kix TV: Billy Ray Cyrus

From the blue-collar community of Flatwoods, Kentucky to the bright lights of Hollywood, Billy Ray Cyrus’ career has shaped up to be vast and varied. Billy Ray hit the national music scene in 1992 with a little number titled “Achy Breaky Heart”…you may have heard of it…and things took off from there in a major way. Before long, Billy Ray expanded his career into acting, most notably with comedy-drama Doc and the Disney Channel original series, which included his daughter Miley, Hannah Montana.

These days, you can find Billy Ray immersing himself in the role of “Burnin’” Vernon Brown on the comedy series Still The King, which just earned a second season on CMT. And, you can hear Billy Ray pay tribute to some of his musical heroes on his new album Thin Line. The project is a mix of original songs and Billy Ray’s take on classics like “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” “Help Me Make It Through the Night” and more. It also features guest appearances from Waylon’s son, Shooter Jennings, Joe Perry, Shelby Lynne, along with Billy Ray’s children Miley and son Braison.

In this edition of Kix TV, Billy Ray stopped by to reflect on his career, and the role some of country’s biggest legends played in providing inspiration and encouragement to him as a new artist. Plus, Billy Ray also shares “Stop Pickin’ on Wille,” a tune from Thin Line.
