This week’s Kidde Hero of the Week nomination comes from Krista Bryant of Texas. She writes:

Dear Kix,

I’d like to nominate my niece, Alyssa, who just turned 15 back on January 7th. Alyssa was diagnosed with cancer several years ago and was granted a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Without anyone helping her or giving her advice, she decided to use that wish to dig a water well in Africa. At the time she was learning in school about how the people of that area were in desperate need of clean water.   Alyssa is a prime example of improving the world by putting the needs of others before herself.

Her family as decided to help Alyssa with her passion by starting the Alyssa Ferguson World Changers Fund!

Thanks, Kix!

Signed,
Krista

Kix’s Response:

Wow! That’s an incredible story and to think Alyssa was only around 13 when she had that opportunity and thought of doing something on a scale that big… Good for you, Alyssa!

We’re thinking about you and praying for you… and thanks for being an inspiration for, not just kids, but everybody out there listening! Way to go!

UPDATE: Unfortunately, after we aired this Hero of the Week feature, we received the news that Alyssa had passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and community.
