The Song Remembers When: “H.O.L.Y.” – Florida Georgia Line

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Florida Georgia Line’s “H.O.L.Y.” took the ACM for Single of the Year. Now, it was their fifth number one and the lead single from their Dig Your Roots album. It was co-written by Nate Cyphert, busbee, and William Larsen. It was Nate Cyphert who came up with “high on loving you.” He said that he was inspired as he drove thru the mountains of California, and he then came up with the acronym H.O.L.Y. – High on Loving You.

At first, Brian and Tyler of Florida Georgia Line didn’t want to cut this thing. They said that it was a great song but felt it just wasn’t for them, so they passed on it. Several weeks later, they came back together in the studio, and they both admitted to listening to the song and they had really fallen for it. So, they cut it!

Tyler said that sometimes it just takes a few seconds to actually get deep enough to understand how powerful this thing is.

This week’s The Song Remembers When and winner of this year’s ACM Single of the Year – Florida Georgia Line and “H.O.L.Y.”
