Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

Danielle Kiefer out of Minnesota emailed us her Hero nomination. She nominates her cousin Colby. Danielle writes:

Back in February, Colby, who is 11, was on his way to school when he heard a lady crying out for help. So, Colby ran over there and saw a woman who had slipped on ice in her driveway. She had fallen in a place that wasn’t visible to anyone walking by. So, Colby called 911 and waited with the woman until the ambulance arrived.

Colby never did get her name, but a few days later, he noticed that her car was back in the driveway. So, he and his mom went to check on her. Well, the woman thanked him for his help and told him she’s not sure she would’ve made it without him because on that day the temperature was well below freezing.

We are all so proud of Colby and so is the community. He has been recognized by his middle school, the police department, and even the Minnesota Senate.

I appreciate you for considering him for the Hero of the Week!

Signed,
Danielle

Kix’s Response:

Well, Danielle, we not only considered him, we choose him!

Good job, Colby! You sound like a great kid! It’s important to realize that its people in your own neighborhood sometimes that need help, and we only need to look down our own streets and see how we can make a difference. And, Colby sure did!
