The Song Remembers When: “Middle of a Memory” – Cole Swindell

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Cole Swindell reached his sixth career number one song in November of last year. “Middle of a Memory” was co-written by Cole and his frequent songwriting buddy Ashley Gorley, along with Zach Crowell.

Now, Cole said that the three of them were writing a song for his Down Home Sessions EP and they came up with the line “middle of a memory.” And, all three of them said “That’s the song we need to be writing!”

Well, Cole said that it was pretty much an in the moment kind of thing, and the song was meant to just be a lighthearted song about meeting somebody you’re in to, but it doesn’t work out.  He goes on to say that it was kind of one of those “what could’ve been, what should’ve been” songs, and it’s one of his favorites that he’s ever written.

It was the second single from his album You Should Be Here, and it’s this week’s Song Remembers When – Cole Swindell’s “Middle of a Memory.”
