Kip said that he brought this song idea to his cowriter Dan Couch after getting news that his longtime friend, guitar player, and drinking buddy Dave Lapsley found out that he and his wife were going to have a baby.
And, Kip said that the song came from seeing the change in Dave, who went from partier to father.
