Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

This week, we honor Will Lourcey of Fort Worth, Texas.

When Will was just a boy in first grade, he spotted a man on the street asking for food. This upset him so deeply that he started the organization known as FROGs – it stands for Friends Reaching Our Goals. At first, Will and his friends were collecting canned food items to hand out to those in need in their community, and then they moved on to something bigger like holding events and eventually the FROGs Dinner Club.

After seven years of grants and donations, FROGs, which is run by mostly middle school kids, has served more than 700,000 meals.

The dinner club hosts kids from low income families and they also go into the community and serves bagged lunches.

So, this week’s Kidde Hero is Will Lourcey and all the kids of FROGs. Check out more about Will and the FROGs organization from this video piece from the NBC Nightly News below. And, don’t forget to check out the FROGs website to see how you can help!

Kix’s Response:

Man, just goes to prove that you’re never too young to make a difference!  And, when Will’s mom was told that she must’ve taught him well for him doing all of this, her answer was: “He taught us.”  The lesson here is: listen to your kids, and encourage them to pursue whatever it is that they show a passion for… Good job, Will!
