Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

Mark Owens emailed us his Hero nomination. He writes:

Greetings,

I’d like to nominate my father, Mickey Owens, for the Hero of the Week. I lost my dad last year to cancer. We miss him dearly but are grateful that we had an opportunity to tell Dad how much he was loved (something many families battling cancer don’t get). Dad will forever be my hero because he was my baseball coach, my superhero, and my friend. Dad also taught three boys how to be men and a daughter how to be strong and independent. I’ll use the life lessons he taught me daily as I raise my own family.

On a side note, Dad’s favorite band was Brooks & Dunn. We even had tickets to see the Vegas show in February 2017. Unfortunately, due to his illness, we had to cancel the trip. However, I just got a ticket to see the show in July. While it won’t be the same without him, I know he will be right beside me singing along in spirit.

Thank you for reading this and I personally thank you, Kix (and the crew at ACC), for making country music such a big part our lives.

Thank you,
Mark Owens

Kix’s Response:

Well, Mark, man, have a great time, and I hope you’ll look me up. I’ll try to track you back down and see if I can get you backstage to say hey.
