The Song Remembers When: “House Party” – Sam Hunt

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Sam Hunt reached the top of the charts for the third time in the summer of 2015 with his song “House Party.”

Now, it was co-written by Sam, his producer Zach Crowell and Jerry Flowers, who plays bass for Keith Urban. Jerry says that the song was written over several different writing sessions. The first session started out with a guitar riff and then they built a track for Sam to sing to, and Sam just went into the vocal booth and started coming up with ideas. And, Jerry said that Sam was so quick with lyrics…

That first session is when Sam came up with the song title. He wanted to write a song about a house party being just two people in a relationship, not about a group throwing down at a home.

Now, according to Sam, the song was pretty easy to write compared to the rest of his Montevallo album.

It was number one in 2015, and it’s this week’s Song Remembers When… Here’s Sam Hunt singing “House Party:”
