The Song Remembers When: “The Fighter” – Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

“The Fighter” by Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood became Keith’s 23rd number one and the fifth from his album Ripcord. It also marked Carrie’s 26th number one.

Keith says that he heard most of the song in his head on the ride to the studio the day he was working with writer and producer busbee. And, he also felt it had been a long time since he’d heard a guy and a girl talking back and forth in a song, so he wanted to create that kind of sound. He said that Carrie was the perfect choice because they had sung together in the past.

As for Carrie, she said that she loved the song the first time she heard it. And, she was really excited to work on music with Keith. The pair were able to play it together during Keith’s tour of Australia and New Zealand last year. They also performed it back in February at the Grammys!

So, this week’s The Song Remembers When is Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood with “The Fighter:”
