This week’s Hero comes from The Washington Post

Joseph Badame is a 74-year-old widower from Medford, New Jersey. Joseph and his wife were survivalists, and through the years they stock piled over 80 barrels of dry food and cases upon cases of water. Unfortunately, after losing his wife in 2015, Joseph went into debt and was forced to sell his home.

He was devastated at the prospect of watching all those pallets of food and water get tossed away. But, by chance, he befriended a young couple from Puerto Rico who owned a food truck in his area. They’d heard about his food supply and said that they believed he could help a lot of people in Puerto Rico devastated by the hurricane. With the couple’s help, the food was shipped to two Puerto Rican towns, just south of San Juan. Joseph says he now has a renewed passion for life!

Isn’t that a good story? Giving to others can make all the difference! And, I bet he had no idea that those years of stock piling barrels of rice, beans and other dry goods would become a life-saver to people he had never met. Good for you. Joseph! This week’s Hero of the Week – Joseph Badame!
