The Song Remembers When: “Sleep Without You” – Brett Young

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In December of 2016, Brett Young scored his very first hit with his debut single “Sleep Without You.”

The California native co-wrote the song with Justin Ebach and Kelly Archer. Brett had been home in Los Angeles visiting his family and friends and was listening to the local pop station. He noticed that a lot of the songs were about some guy trying to sleep with a girl. And, he came up with a twist on the subject and got away from the whole “hook up” idea.

He thought about his own relationships and how important those “good night calls or texts” had become and how sometimes you can’t sleep until you get that call.

Well, it was the first time writing with Justin and Kelly, and he was surprised at how fast the song came together. So, this week’s The Song Remembers When is Brett Young’s “Sleep Without You:”
