Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Kidde Hero of the Week…

This week, Mike Shannon of Iowa, reached out to us to nominate his wife, Air Force Veteran Lori Shannon. Lori is a hero to him because of how she dedicates her time to helping troubled teen boys.

Mike writes:

Throughout the week, she’ll take meetings with these kids to make sure they are going to school, getting good grades and following all the rules. During an in-home visit, she realized that one of the boys and his family were unable to have a decent holiday meal for Thanksgiving. She reached out to her friends at Knights of Columbus to see if they could help. Not only did they come through in providing the seven meals she requested, but they helped put together 11 more meals for those in need. And, Lori delivered every single one of them!

She grew up in a struggling, single parent home and knows how the little things of having a normal Thanksgiving meal can make a difference in a child’s life.

Kix, this is just one example of how she dedicates her time to helping out these troubled teens and to me, she is a hero!

Kix’s Response:

What a good story!

Well, Mike, I agree with you! Helping out today’s youth is one of the most important things we can do. They are our future and I know how that guidance and care early on can make a huge difference!

And, Lori, I’d also like to thank you for your service to our country as an Air Force Veteran! You are our Kidde Hero of the Week!
