In May of 2017, Josh Turner’s second single from his Deep South album – “Hometown Girl” – made it to number two on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The song was written by Marc Beeson and Daniel Tashian.
Marc said that there was an old crush of his from high school that just kept popping into his mind. And, when he walked into the writing session, Dan started playing this music, and Marc told him about his old flame and then, he had an idea. The two started messing around with the chorus, and it just kind of came together. Marc said that it was a series of pictures in his mind that reminded him of how he grew up in rural Illinois.
When Josh heard it, he knew this was a song his fans were going to relate to…
