This week, we honor eight-year-old Ryan Hickman, from Orange County, California, for helping to make this planet a better place to live!

So, Ryan, at just eight years old, has been running his own recycling program.

Back in 2012, Ryan’s father noticed that his son had a passion for cleaning up the earth and was concerned about litter and the idea that these plastic bottles would get into the ocean and make the marine life sick. So, Ryan has become extremely passionate about collecting plastics, whether it’s along the beach or on the greens at the local country club. He gets to visit the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach where he makes donations from money he’s raised from recycling. And, there the staff teaches Ryan more about how to protect the sea lions and other marine life and how his recycling plastic is saving their lives.

This little dude was even on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and after his appearance, he has inspired kids and adults around the world to recycle. And, by the way, after making donations to the mammal center in California, Ryan is saving some of the money he makes from those bottle returns in hopes of buying his own recycling truck… although, his dad hopes maybe some of it’s for college!

So, Ryan Hickman – you are this week’s Hero!!!
