The Song Remembers When: Randy Houser’s “Like A Cowboy”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In 2014, Randy Houser’s “Like A Cowboy” became a favorite among fans. It was co-written by Randy and Brice Long. Both of them had done some rodeo-ing back in their high school days, and they got to thinking about how the life of a musician parallels to that of a cowboy.

Randy said that he wanted to play off the fact that there’s a lot of traveling in both; packing up to head out on the road to find success and then to come back to your family before you have to head back out again. There’s a lot of ups and downs in both lifestyles and that also influenced the song.

And, I’m proud to say that my production company went to work with Randy on shooting the video for this one. It was done in Arizona at the Old Tucson Studios.

This song was the fourth single from Randy’s How Country Feels album, peaking at number three on the chart, and it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – Randy Houser and “Like A Cowboy.”
