This week, we turn the spotlight to 37-year-old Donahue Fields, a native New Yorker who became a double amputee after a stray bullet pierced his spine as he was walking home in New York City. He was just 19 years old.

Well, as he got older, he became more depressed, but then he found love. And, with that, Donahue felt the need to do something to better himself. So, he returned to the gym where he discovered “adaptive boxing.”

Donahue worked with a trainer and got stronger. He felt better physically and mentally, and soon he found the confidence to rent space at the gym. Now, he trains others with disabilities. And, Donahue hopes to bring adaptive boxing to the 2020 Summer Paralympics.

Kix’s Response:

Good luck with that, man… What an inspiring story! It’s important to know that we can all have value regardless of circumstances and that through hard work, you can accomplish your goals.

Donahue Fields, we salute you as this week’s ACC Hero!
