The Song Remembers When: Old Dominion – “Snapback”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Old Dominion’s debut album Meat and Candy produced several hits. The second single from that project was “Snapback,” and in June of 2016, it fell just shy of the top of the chart.

The song was co-written by band members Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, and Brad Tursi while the guys were on the road. At the time, Brad was working up some music with a drumbeat and a keyboard sound. Meanwhile, Matt had the title “Snapback,” and like a lot of us, he didn’t know what it meant – basically, it’s a style of a ballcap where you keep the bill flat instead of bending or curving it.

There was some concern from the band and their producer that people wouldn’t get it. But they kept on working on it because it had such a strong melody and it was really catchy.

Thank goodness they did because it was one fans couldn’t get enough of… And, it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – Old Dominion with “Snapback.”
