In 2018, Luke Combs released his third single which resulted in his third consecutive number one hit! Luke co-wrote “One Number Away” with songwriters Rob Williford, Sammy Mitchell, and Steven Battey.
Now, Luke had just moved to Nashville from North Carolina. He had been hanging out with Rob and some of his writer friends singing their demos. After spending time with those guys, they all decided to write together.
At their second writing session, Rob brought up an idea that he had been holding onto for a while – it was about trying not to call an old flame, but she was just “one number away.” Ultimately, the song made Luke’s debut album, This One’s For You, and it went to the top of the chart in June of 2018.
