Hero of the Week: Daniel Godbout

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we share a story out of Rockingham, Vermont.

Daniel Godbout, of Rutland, Vermont, was driving to work on a Monday morning when he spotted a Jeep driving erratically. After Daniel turned around the bend in the road, he saw that the Jeep had gone airborne and off the embankment. He pulled his car over and yelled down to see if those in the vehicle were okay.

After hearing a response, Daniel ran to the Jeep which had caught fire. He yelled to another bystander at the scene to call the police. Fortunately, Daniel was able to pull both the passenger and the driver out of the Jeep and get them to safety before the police arrived on the scene.

For his heroism, Daniel was given the Civilian Lifesaving Award. Daniel shared that during the rescue, he was scared but he was not going to leave them. He just did what he did and let instinct take over.

Kix’s Response:

Well, man, I don’t know if we can all have the instinct to run towards a burning vehicle – it doesn’t get braver than that – but I’d like to think we all have a little sense of heroism in us. Daniel Godbout, you are this week’s ACC Hero!
