In 2018, Maren Morris released the fourth and final single from her debut album Hero. “Rich” was a song that she co-wrote with songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon and Laura Veltz.
Maren remembers that they originally thought this would be a sad break-up song, but as they got deeper into writing, they fell in love with the bouncy feel and thought that they needed to make it more of a fun up-tempo tune. And, like any song, you just never know where it’s gonna take you until you get there.
“Rich” went on to become a Top 5 hit for Maren, peaking at number four in November 2018, where it stayed for three weeks. It’s our featured The Song Remembers When – “Rich.”
