Dustin Lynch went to number one in January of 2019 with “Good Girl,” which marked the first time that he achieved that feat as a songwriter.
When he was on the road with Brad Paisley, Dustin invited songwriters Justin Ebach and Andy Albert out with him. The three of them came up with this idea of having a good girl by your side. At the time, Dustin was the only one who was single, so he wrote the song from the perspective of knowing what he wanted in a partner.
Dustin knew the song was something special and asked the label if he could release it right away, and so they did. The song eventually found a home on Dustin’s latest album Tullahoma, which was released earlier this year.
