This week’s story sounds like it’s straight out of the Fast and Furious movie series…
Deputy Wes Gaddis, out of Mercer County, Kentucky, was on his way to lunch when he got a call about a car going 70 miles per hour and couldn’t stop because the cruise control was apparently stuck. He was given her location and knew that the car would be coming up on an intersection near him, so Deputy Gaddis knew he had to act fast.
The deputy took off doing 90 mile per hour and caught up to the car. He then got in front of the vehicle and started to slow down. Once the front of her car caught up to back of his vehicle, he slowed up enough to bring them both to a stop.
The driver was a young woman who wasn’t alone in the car. She had a baby in the back seat, so Deputy Gaddis knows that this story could have ended differently had his actions not worked.
The local media honored Deputy Gaddis as a hero, but he said that what he did is what all those in blue do – it’s just another day at work for him.

Well, he can downplay it but the idea of a car going full speed unable to stop, then coming into an intersection? Well, like it or not, Deputy Gaddis – you are an ACC Hero!
