The Song Remembers When: Michael Ray – “Kiss You In The Morning”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Back in the summer of 2015, Michael Ray’s debut single “Kiss You In The Morning” became his first number one. The song was written by Michael White and Justin Wilson, who was also the singer on the demo.

Michael said that it was his record label who pitched him the song, and when he heard the demo, what hit him was how big it sounded. So, Michael brought it to his producer Scott Hendricks (who also produced Brooks & Dunn’s first five records). He felt that they could bring the song to life even more.

Lyrically, Michael felt that this song could be for anyone, whether they’re single or married. And, when they finished the song, he knew that he wanted this to be the one that would introduce him to the national country music audience.

It’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – from his self-titled debut album, here’s Michael Ray with “Kiss You In The Morning.”
