The Song Remembers When: Dierks Bentley – “Burning Man,” Featuring Brothers Osborne

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

In 2019, Dierks Bentley and Brothers Osborne took home the ACM for Music Event of the Year with the song “Burning Man.” Burning Man happens to be an event that is focused on art and self-expression. It’s held yearly in the northwest Nevada desert. And, it’s freaking crazy if you chose to Google it!

The song was written by Luke Dick and Bobby Pinson. It was inspired by Luke’s own trip to Burning Man. He said that while he was there, he realized that none of us are the same. And that message was exactly what appealed to Dierks. He said that it’s something all of us can relate to: “we’re all a little bit this and a little bit that.”

Dierks held onto it for a few years before turning the song into a collaboration with Brothers Osborne. He said that the song had this great guitar part, so he knew with TJ’s voice and John Osborne’s guitar playing, it would be a perfect fit for the duo.

The song went on to peak just shy of the top of the chart here on the Countdown, and it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When. Here’s Dierks Bentley and Brothers Osborne with “Burning Man.”
