Hero of the Week: Chief Christiana Rainbow Plews

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we turn our attention to the devastating wildfires out west. There are so many hero stories coming out of all the tragedy.

Chief Christiana Rainbow Plews, who is simply known in her community as Chief Rainbow, is being hailed as a local hero. She is from the Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Protection District in Oregon.

Even as her own home burned to the ground, she stood on the line with her crew to battle the fires. She is credited with protecting structures from severe damage and saving lives. Chief Rainbow admits that it was tough to fight the fire with a broken heart but she wiped her tears and continued to battle the blaze, shoulder to shoulder with her crew of volunteers, many who also lost their homes.

Her son Kiger says that he’s happy to see his mom getting the credit she deserves. He says that she is a true hero and her call to evacuate the area early is a big reason lives were saved.

Kix’s Response:

Our thoughts and prayers are certainly going out to all the brave men and women out there on the west coast battling these fires as they continue throughout Washington, Oregon, and California.

To Chief Rainbow, you are this week’s ACC Hero!
